Meeting a US-American diplomat

On 18 February 2026, Class 3FSW and their English teachers went to the Amerika Haus in Vienna’s first district to meet the diplomat Mr Werner and to discuss milestones of America’s history in the past 250 years. After explaining the Declaration of Independence as well as innovations that have shaped the US, Mr Werner gave a lively insight into the development of baseball, the national game of the US, by illustrating how idioms have found their way from sport to everyday language. In the Q&A session the students and teachers had plenty of opportunities to get a diplomat’s view on their fields of interest.
